How slat matting helped this Southland farm eliminate slip injuries

Wairuna, Southland

Southland farmer Barry Pannett was having major problems with crook joints and cows skinning themselves on concrete slats in his three herd homes.

Numat worked with Barry to provide him a long-term solution to the problem; a solution that came in the form of Numat’s Slat Mats.

The mats are designed to cover harsh concrete slats, maximizing cow comfort while allowing effluent to drain away into collection tanks.

Since installing Numat Slat Mats, Barry hasn’t had to lay straw which is one less expense and he’s noticed a significant improvement in overall cow comfort. Most importantly, the matting has made slip injuries a thing of the past.
